Call Out for Submissions to Issue 12 of ‘Fire to the Prisons’

Fire to the Prisons is an an anti-state and anti-capitalist (to say the least) publication that sees potential for change specifically in different instances of social insurrection. We try to present a confrontational perspective on domination and exploitation in the world today, as opposed to a passive, submissive, or reactionary one.

It has been almost 6 months since the last issue of Fire to the Prisons, and many things have happened. Leading us to feel the need to produce a new issue.

We also officially no longer have any copies of any issues of Fire to the Prisons available for distribution, which we see as a positive thing in a way, but also as an additional sign that it’s time to get to work again.

Seriously though, other then an original copy of each issue for our own records, that is all that’s left. We say this proudly, because we feel like the tens of thousands of copies we printed have for the most part been properly distributed (although considering how freely we give them away to people, many may have gone to waste too*), hopefully reaching the minds and hearts of many revolutionary individuals and communities around the world.

We have tried to make Fire to the Prisons one more exception from the typical propaganda and academic theory that has come out of many of the revolutionary circles today. For one we try to veer away from the boredom of most theory by rooting our conversation and analysis in specific events happening now, that currently hold broader potential for inspiring and spreading revolt. With distancing ourselves from typical political propaganda we also try to utilize our pages to not cater to a specific ideology or impose one; but to simply present experiences, feelings, and struggles that many of us share, but are too divided and alienated from one another to relate over or connect.

While some book stores or distributors sell our publication, the majority of Fire to the Prisons are given away for free. Although we still try to target our distribution. For example, you can find our magazines at bodegas (ghetto delis), liquor stores, prisons/schools, free newspaper boxes, bathrooms, social centers, and other places that are accessible or home to many different types of social discontent across the country (and in some cases the world).

If you are unfamiliar with Fire to the Prisons, you can get a better idea of what we’re about by downloading any of our issues for free in PDF format on our web site at:

At this moment we are currently looking for submissions for issue 12 of the magazine.

Some of the submissions we request for every issue are:

-Updates on Repression
Support Group statements and updates on current political prisoners.
New technologies or organizations aiding state repression of political activity or social revolt.
Updates on legal trials or reports of new arrests.

-Non-Politicized instances of revolt or discontent
Serial bank robberies, office shootings, school riots, woman killing/assaulting/defending against rapists (in and out of the act), gay or queer resistance to everyday bashing, and so on.

-Prisoner Escapes/Prison Riots

-Links to new projects and information we can cite in our “Further Research” section of every issue.

Some of the topics we are requesting submissions for that are specific to this issue are:

-The “Occupy” Movement
Different experiences in different parts of the country.
Critical and supportive accounts.
Only anti-capitalist and anti-state perspectives will be considered.

-The London Riots of 2011
Supportive texts and analysis.
Interviews with witnesses.

-New information on the Middle East and North Africa to follow up on last issue’s “Days of Rage” article.

We are open to many other submissions and look forward to seeing what we get. Due to finances it is impossible to print many of the incredible submissions we receive, but we most certainly try to. Prisoner support groups and prisoner’s themselves definitely get priority for submissions though. And whether or not we can print all of the articles we receive, we will do our best to get back to you and let you know what we think.

Also, if you have an idea for an article you would like to do for us specifically, and are concerned we may not print it, it would be great if you wanted to throw us an outline or proposal of it before hand.

Send all submissions to:
